The TRAC Group’s highly skilled team includes Registered Nurses, Speech-Language Pathologists, Communicative Disorders Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Life Skills Workers, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and Rehabilitation Consultants. Working together, we design and deliver services that are tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Our approach
We offer Employers a selection of services from which a tailor made program may be developed to meet the special needs of your company.
Our services include but are not limited to;
- Short Term Disability Management
- Assistance with Long Term Disability Management
- Return to Work Coordination (STD, LTD and WSIB)
- Attendance Management Program
- Health and Wellness services (clinics, seminars, medical screens)
- Occupational assessments (e.g. ergonomic assessments, functional assessment, physical demands analysis, cognitive demands analysis)
- Training & Support (e.g. training for supervisors who are reintegrating
an injured employee)
- Referrals for and coordination of medical assessments and
treatment
Goal
The primary goal of our program is to ensure a swift and successful return to work for employees off sick, either as a result of an occupational or non-occupational illness or injury.
Our program focus includes;
- Acknowledging the contribution of all employees and the necessity to have
them at work
- Providing temporary or permanent accommodations for employees with limitations
- Standardizing protocols for managing disabilities and professional injuries in a punctual and proactive manner
Our Disability Managers will;
- Ensure the administrative and medical management of files
- Ensure all medical directives are followed by attending treatment providers
- Ensure that the information gathered, used and generated adheres to the strictest confidentiality policies
- Communicate necessary information regarding the disability management of files with human resource personnel as well as with supervisors (limitations, restrictions and anticipated date of return to work)
- Explain responsibilities and processes to employees whose files are being managed
- Certify that information received confirms that the absence was of a medical nature and justified
- Coordinate required evaluations and treatments
- Communicate with the long term disability insurance carrier and/or WSIB as needed
Our Disability Managers are equipped to adjudicate Short Term Disability Claims, assist with STD interventions, coordinate return to work for STD, LTD and WSIB claims, all the while ensuring that medical best practices are being observed.
Return to work Program
Our return to work program will ensure that a swift return to work is achieved while observing physician recommendations, needs of the employee and needs of the employer. We assist individuals who are on Short Term, Long Term, WSIB or other insurance benefits.
The return to work team is typically comprised of the employee, their supervisor, the return to work coordinator, a representative from human resources and a representative from the employee’s union or organization.
Our Return to Work Coordinator will;
- Observe the recommendations made by the physician and return to work coordinator in preparation for employees return
- Establish a return to work plan based on these recommendations
- Detail all required accommodations
- Ensure that the return to work plan is followed for the specified time frame and that restrictions and limitations are strictly observed
- Ensure strictest confidentiality with respect to any and all information relative to the employee’s file/status

All of our specialists possess previous education in such fields as; health, rehabilitation, occupational health and safety, business, labour relations, benefit administration, return to work coordination and vocational rehabilitation. All have practical experience gained in the workplace participating in health and safety committees, administering benefit/insurance programs, advocating for workers or participating in negotiating committees and most importantly, returning employees to work.
Wellness Clinics
TRAC offers multi disciplinary Wellness Clinics to;
- Screen and intervene for potential health risks (i.e. diabetic and high blood pressure screens, repetitive injury screens, etc…)
- Educate employees and the employer (safe body mechanics, stress management, prevention of communicable diseases, etc…..)
- Encourage healthy employees and a healthy workplace (Ergonomic assessments, suitable accommodations, etc…)
Every TRAC Group client’s file is reviewed by either our Clinical Director, Vocational Manager or Discipline Specific Practice Leader, with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in community rehabilitation. This review ensures best practice guidelines and program protocols are followed and rehabilitation plans are working as they should be.
