Vocational Rehabilitation Services
The TRAC Group’s highly skilled team includes Registered Nurses, Speech-Language Pathologists, Communicative Disorders Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Life Skills Workers, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and Rehabilitation Consultants. Working together, we design and deliver services that are tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Our approach
TRAC Group provides client-centered, outcome-based vocational services to clients for whom change or a new career path is imperative. We work with students, workers, or individuals contemplating school or work or any vocational endeavor to effect change and realize vocational goals.
The following services are available on a stand-alone basis or in combination as per the required needs:
- Transferable of Skills Analysis
A study of the individual’s work content transferable skills, soft transferable skills, vocational profile and medical status is completed in order to identify potential vocational alternatives.
- Labour Market Survey
Our counselors undertake an analysis of the labour market in order to determine whether or not an occupation exists, to obtain information regarding duties and tasks, to clarify the rate of pay, hours of work and to investigate employers’ ability relative to accommodations.
- Job Coaching
Our counselors assist clients in learning the roles and responsibilities of a position and provide ongoing support in supported employment positions.
- Work Hardening
Our counselors develop, implement and monitor individual programs designed to prepare and condition a client in order to facilitate a return to work. Modifications to the tasks as well as an assessment of the workplace are components of work hardening programs as is productivity, safety, physical tolerances, and monitoring of client physical and psychological health.
- Vocational evaluation
A comprehensive assessment that considers an individual’s vocational profile, level of function, results of measured aptitudes, educational and training achievements, and interests in formulating realistic vocational goals. A vocational evaluation typically includes; aptitude testing, transferable skills analysis and labour market research.
- Psycho-vocational evaluation
Our Vocational Evaluators collaborate with Psychologists the outcome of which is a comprehensive report that examines a person’s psychological status in consideration of their vocational and physical status. A Psycho vocational evaluation typically includes psychometric testing, aptitude testing, transferable skills analysis and labour market research.
- Vocational Needs Analysis
A review of the client’s rehabilitation efforts from date of loss is completed, including current treatments and therapies, vocational profile, present level of function and current return to work status. This review culminates in the development of a vocational rehabilitation plan to assist the client in returning to competitive employment.
- Vocational Planning and Career Planning
Our counselors are skilled in collaboratively working with people for who change or a new career path is important. We will provide guidance and vocational planning to students, workers, or individuals contemplating school or work or any vocational endeavor to effect change and realize vocational goals.
- Return to Work; Facilitation and Co-ordination
This program offers necessary supports and coordination to assist an individual in a return to gainful employment. A Vocational Consultant coordinates and negotiates with stakeholders in order to assist an individual with a suitable return to work. A return to work plan is formalized to ensure that all necessary accommodations are implemented and restrictions observed to promote a successful return to work.
- Work Placement including on the job training
This program offers support and coordination in order to access a job and complete training while completing job functions.
- Job Search skills and Resume Preparation
Pursuant to assessing transferable skills in conjunction with the labour market, our counselors work with clients entering or re-entering the workplace to acquire skills in resume preparation, interview participation, and time management.
Every TRAC Group client’s file is reviewed by either our Clinical Director, Vocational Manager or Discipline Specific Practice Leader, with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in community rehabilitation. This review ensures best practice guidelines and program protocols are followed and rehabilitation plans are working as they should be.
